This group was formed in 1999 and there have now been 88 presentations (Feb 2011)
The presentations vary in content each month, and the scope of these is very wide. They are given by the group leader at his home.
Typically there will be a brief talk about the topic chosen followed by recordings to illustrate the subject, for example the leader will describe what a “symphonic poem” is and then give examples in musical recordings. The group will then discuss the music.
New members or guests are always welcome
We are a small group who meet on the 2nd Friday of the month in each other's homes, where we take along 2 or more CDs to play items of up to 5 minutes duration. The range covered is from classical to popular song around a given theme. New Members welcome.
Music sans frontieres
Details to follow
The group meets twice a month during term times under the guidance of a professional tutor. There are two sessions held: one for beginners and one for more experienced players.
The "uke" is a simple, light and friendly instrument to play and requires no previous experience of playing an instrument or reading music. It is a versatile instrument and need not be restricted to the George Formby style of play!
